The furniture is placed in just the right way, and you think, I love how they’ve hung that picture… It’s unexpected but familiar. A good work-space feels different, it speeds you up. Makes conversations easier, ideas flow more freely and helps you get things done.
And then you have that friend whose house you love to visit, why? You can’t quite put your finger on it, but it feels good to be there.
The spaces we inhabit have a great impact on how we live, so let’s make them wonderful.
About Monya
Growing up in the dusty mining town of Welkom in the Freestate, there was not much obvious beauty around, but it not being there; made me look harder.
I started my business in 2011 by designing and manufacturing custom timber furniture, mainly because I couldn’t find what I was looking for in the world of shops. I spent a lot of time with clients conceptualising new furniture for their offices, restaurants and homes and this naturally led to a broader consideration of not only the furniture, but the spaces it will inhabit. I am fascinated by the interaction between people, the objects we love and the places where we spend our time. Be it for life, work or play. Each one has a different feel and function, and the best ones always tell a good story.
In addition to creating beautiful things and spaces I generally just like to get my hands dirty. I grow stuff; I have a garden full of spinach and other green things I never eat. I’m also partial to winter, small towns & the Karoo.
